What the schedule means: each colored tag is the powder to dust insects with on that day. Days marked “No insects” need no supplements. If your feeding days change, tick the new days and the plan redistributes itself.
How it works
For every species and life stage we store how many feedings per week should get calcium with D3 and how many should get a multivitamin. These counts depend on UVB: a lizard under good UVB light makes its own vitamin D3, so it needs less D3 from powder. Without UVB, D3 is used more often.
The generator spreads the D3 days as evenly as possible across your chosen feeding days, then places the multivitamin days in the gaps. Every other feeding day gets plain calcium without D3 where the species needs it. Spacing matters because it avoids two heavy doses in a row and keeps calcium intake steady through the week.
If you feed fewer days than the plan needs, the tool keeps the most important supplements first (D3, then multivitamin) and warns you. It also flags bearded dragons kept without UVB, because supplements alone cannot replace proper lighting.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between calcium with and without D3?
Reptiles need vitamin D3 to absorb calcium. Under good UVB light they make D3 in their skin, so most feedings can use plain calcium. Calcium with D3 adds the vitamin through food. It is important for species kept without UVB, but too much D3 can be harmful, which is why it is used only a few times a week.
Does my bearded dragon need calcium every day?
Growing bearded dragons usually get a light dusting of calcium at most insect feedings, which can mean daily for babies. Adults eat insects only a few times a week, so they get calcium at those feedings. What matters is a light coating and the right balance of plain calcium, calcium with D3 and multivitamin.
How do I dust insects?
Put the insects in a cup or bag, add a pinch of powder and shake gently until they look lightly dusted, not white. Feed them right away, before the insects clean the powder off. Gut-load insects for a day or two before feeding so they carry nutrients inside as well.
Can reptiles get too much calcium or vitamins?
Yes. Too much vitamin D3 or vitamin A from supplements can cause health problems, so do not add extra dusting days “just in case.” A schedule avoids both too little and too much. Signs such as weakness, tremors, swollen limbs or a soft jaw need a reptile vet, not more powder.
Do crested geckos need calcium dusting?
Crested geckos on a complete powdered diet already get calcium and vitamins from that food. Only the insects you offer as extras need dusting, usually with calcium plus D3. That is why the generator marks insect days only for crested geckos.
