What the result means: the water amount follows the ratio printed on each brand’s label. It is a starting point, not a rule: humidity and the age of the powder change how it sets, so adjust a few drops at a time until the mix has a smooth, ketchup-like texture.
How it works
Powdered crested gecko diets, often called CGD (crested gecko diet), are complete foods: fruit, insect protein, calcium and vitamins in one mix. They are designed to be mixed with water by volume. The calculator multiplies your powder amount by the water ratio from the maker’s label: 2 parts water for Pangea’s standard formulas and Repashy Crested Gecko MRP, and 2.5 parts water for Pangea Growth & Breeding. Teaspoons and tablespoons are converted to milliliters (1 teaspoon ≈ 4.9 ml) so you can also measure with a syringe.
The feeding frequency comes from your gecko’s age. Juveniles under 12 months are growing fast and are offered diet every day. Adults are offered diet every 2–3 days, which helps prevent the obesity that is common in pet crested geckos. Where the maker gives a fridge life, the tool also tells you how many feedings one batch will cover, so you can mix only what you will use.
Whatever the schedule, remove uneaten food within 24 hours. Weigh your gecko every few weeks and compare it with thecrested gecko growth chart to check that the amount is right.

Frequently asked questions
What is the right crested gecko diet ratio?
Most powdered crested gecko diets mix at 1 part powder to 2 parts water by volume. Pangea’s Growth & Breeding Formula is the main exception at 1 part powder to 2.5 parts water. Treat the label ratio as a starting point and adjust a few drops at a time until the mix looks like ketchup.
How do you mix Pangea gecko diet?
Measure one level spoon of powder into a small cup, add two spoons of water (two and a half for Growth & Breeding), and stir until smooth. Wait a few minutes while it thickens. Serve it in a small dish on a feeding ledge, and keep leftovers in the fridge for up to 7 days.
How long can mixed crested gecko food sit out?
Take uneaten food out of the enclosure within 24 hours. Warm, humid enclosures spoil food quickly and attract fruit flies and mold. Pangea says mixed food keeps up to 7 days in the fridge. For other brands, follow the label, and throw out any mix that smells sour or looks moldy.
Why is my crested gecko not eating its diet?
New geckos often eat little for the first week or two. Check that temperatures stay below about 80°F, that the dish is up high where geckos feel safe, and that the food is fresh. Try another flavor. See a reptile vet if your gecko is losing weight or has not eaten for several weeks.
Can I mix crested gecko food with fruit or baby food?
It is best not to. Complete powdered diets are balanced for calcium, vitamins and protein, and adding fruit or baby food dilutes that balance. If you want variety, rotate between flavors or brands of complete diet, and offer a few dusted insects each week instead.
